So this is for my readers that need an incredible chocolate fix in the morning….It is an easy recipe that is just as incredible to eat as it is fast to make. It takes less than 10 minutes to make. Seriously, that is it. I know another LONG and difficult recipe! My kids were in LOVE with the explosion of flavors. It was called “HEAVEN”, “DELECTABLY DELICIOUS”, and “MORE YUM PLEASE”!
5 cups Milk
3 cups Old fashioned rolled oats
1/3 cup Dark cocoa powder
Strawberries (or you choice of fruit)
Whisk / Stirring utensil of your choice
In a pot add milk and begin to heat on med. Stir OFTEN so that you do not burn the milk.
Cut up strawberries into small bite size pieces.
Add cocoa powder and whisk / stir until completely blended smooth.
Continue to heat the now chocolate milk until it begins to boil.
Add oats and lower temp to a simmer.
As the oats soften about 2-3 minutes into the cooking, add strawberries.
Add maple syrup to sweeten the oatmeal to taste. The dark cocoa is more bitter than milk chocolate.
Stir constantly so that oatmeal does not stick or burn in the pan.
Once oats have softened, it is ready to enjoy (about 5 minutes from beginning to end).
I know, it was really hard to make. I am soooo sorry that I put you through all that hard work and made you suffer while standing for what must seem like hours! Now, stop drooling and go make some. Your taste buds will thank you!
Quick note….I use dark cocoa instead of regular cocoa in my home. Dark cocoa offers some AMAZING health benefits.
It is high in Flavanols (antioxidant compounds) that when consumed regularly have been shown to….
- Lower blood pressure
- Decrease the risk of heart attack and stroke
- Lower bad “LDL” cholesterol, raising good “HDL” cholesterol
- Helps reduce cravings for salty, sweet, or fatty foods
- Reduce the risk of diabetes
- Protection against UV rays
- Anti blood clotting properties that thin out the blood similar to asprin
- Mood enhancer
- Helps with vision
- Improve brain function
- Helps with panic and anxiety attacks
