This is one of my favorite dishes to eat during the holidays. I always used to make the boxed stuff before we began our food journey. Have you ever looked at the ingredient list on a box of stuffing? I mean WOW! Really????
Here’s my version of stuffing….
Supply List:
6 tablespoons butter
1 Onion
1 Bell pepper
4 cloves garlic
Mushrooms
1-2 Stocks of celery
4 tbs flour (I used unbleached)
1 cup Light cream
1 cup Stock (Chicken and turkey recipes here, Beef Bone recipe here)
1 cup Light cream
1 cup Stock (Chicken and turkey recipes here, Beef Bone recipe here)
Salt
Pepper
Sage
Parsley
6-7 cups Bread cut into cubes
2 eggs
2 eggs
Large skillet
Baking Dish (If not stuffing into the bird)
Instructions:
Mince the garlic. Dice the onions, celery, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Put the garlic and the rest of the veggies in the skillet with the butter and saute over med heat until tender.
Add the flour and stir until blended into the veggies. Do not burn the flour.
Next add the cream, broth, seasonings to the skillet.
Stir constantly so that it does not burn. It will thicken to the consistency of gravy.
Mix the bread and eggs into the gravy mix until well blended.
Shove it into the turkey and cook the bird as usual.
